In the wake of the devastating overnight floods which ravaged parts of Gauteng on Thursday, 08 December, emergency services raced against time to rescue passengers who were stuck on a sinking bus.
Emer-G-Med, says they received a frantic call from a female passenger who was stuck in a bus that was sinking.
The bus which was taking in water that was rapidly flowing due to flash floods was traced to Orlando, Soweto.
Due to the caller being distressed, she was unable to give emergency personnel a direct location of the bus.
Fast thinking operators requested the passenger to send through her live location via WhatsApp messenger and Emer-G-Med, together with First Assist teams sprung into action.
While the number of passengers on board the bus were not confirmed, rescuers say all passengers were safely retrieved from the sinking bus.
