Tributes are pouring in for Jamaican dancehall artist, Aidonia and his family on the loss of his 9-year old son to cancer.
Aidonia and his wife Kimberley Megan’s only child, King Khalif Lawrence, had been diagnosed with cancer a few years ago.
The artist’s manager, Julian Jones Griffith confirmed the news on Twitter.
“Can only pray for Aidonia, his wife and family at this time. Words are meaningless to a pain I can’t even imagine. The young King put up a brave fight for years and Donia and Kim were extremely brave throughout that time too.”
The dancehall and reggae artist took a break from music for a few years without giving fans an explanation, keeping his son’s illness under wraps.
With news of his son’s passing, many now understand why it was necessary for Aidonia to devote his time to his family.
The artist who rose in popularity from 2004 has a number of hit tracks including Pretty Please, U Know Di Vibe and Rat Trap.
Sheldon Aitana Ricardo Lawrence, better known as Aidonia received messages of support from other artists including fellow Jamaican-American reggae singer, Shaggy.
The Lawrence family haven’t released a statement yet but have not been active on social media since 2019 when their son fell sick.
