Rescue teams are still searching for 15 missing people who were swept away in flash floods in the Jukskei River on Saturday, 03 December.
The group were part of a church baptism ritual at the river, which claimed the lives of two people who drowned, with 15 others still not accounted for.
Search and rescue teams say they believe some of the missing are children.
Spokesperson for City of Joburg’s Emergency Medical Services, Robert Mulaudzi said teams resumed the search this morning but there has been no traces of the missing 15.
K9 units joined by members of the National Sea Institute are all involved in finding the missing individuals.
“We are resuming this morning with the search where the incident occurred. We will be searching along the Jukskei River stream and see whether we can locate the 15 people believed to be missing in this incident.
Two bodies have been found and one person rescued, with 15 more still being searched for.”
