The criminal case in which Dr. Esther Nostokana Mahlangu, a well-known Ndebele artist, was beaten and robbed of her personal pistol and an undisclosed sum of money in her home has been dropped.
The case concerns a robbery that occurred on March 19 at Mahlangu’s home in Weltevrede, close to Siyabuswa.
“The Mpumalanga National Prosecuting Authority can confirm that Dr Esther Mahlangu’s case has been removed from the court roll by the Mdutjana Magistrate Court on Thursday,”
“The magistrate removed the matter due to outstanding investigation from the police. Once the information is obtained, charges against the accused will be reinstated.”
“The accused, Simon Rhantsi Skosana was charged with robbery with aggravating circumstances and has been in custody until the matter got struck off the roll today.” according to NPA spokesperson Monica Nyuswa.

IOL News reports that Police in Mpumalanga claimed earlier this year that Skosana had admitted to breaking into Mahlangu’s home and stealing the weapon, cash, and safe.
According to Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, a spokesman for the Mpumalanga police, the safe was discovered near Ramokgeletsane, a few kilometers from Siyabuswa, and it had been broken open with an angle-grinder.
