The Hawks have arrested a 35-year old man, believed to be an alleged fuel theft syndicate kingpin.
His arrest comes along with the Hawks seizing a fleet of luxury vehicles from his premises in Kromdraai, Witbank.
Five luxury vehicles, illegal firearms, ammunition and an undisclosed amount of cash were also seized.
The vehicles include:
- Black Jeep SRT 8 SUV
- Black Mercedes-Benz Viano minibus
- White Toyota Land Cruiser
- Black Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV
- Silver Jeep V8 SUV
Hawks say the accused will face charges linked to fuel theft and damage to essential infrastructure.
His arrest on Wednesday, 19 October comes from after a special task force linked the suspect to fuel theft through tampering with the Transnet national pipeline in Vrede, Free State.
Two other suspects will face the same charges.
The men are accused of stealing almost 8.5 million litres of fuel, value at approximately R102 million.
