DJ Sbu has definitely lived and learned from some of the poor financial decisions he made on his rise to the top.
The entrepreneur and popular podcaster shared how his bad choices when he was younger caused him to overspend.
Not only did this mean big losses along the way but major lessons when it comes to wealth, building an empire and leaving a legacy behind.
In an interview on The Penuel Show, Sibusiso Leope better known as DJ Sbu reflected on his lifestyle and how “keeping up with appearances” cost him severely.
“I’ve lived that lifestyle, rolling in Porsches, travelling. I’ve driven all these luxury sports cars, had that life, throwing parties, going out and dropping money. You know the celebrity life. Back then I was proud about it, but now looking back I realise that I was dumb.
When it comes to finances, I’ve fallen and I’ve got myself to blame, no one else.”
DJ Sbu talks about his poor financial decisions
Not only did DJ Sbu rake in a lot of money from his TV and radio presenting gigs, but he also went on to own a record label and started an online radio station too.
DJ Sbu also launched his own soft drink range, MoFaya and while business is good, the personality does not own a car.
Apart from company vehicles, DJ Sbu says he made the decision to not buy his own car because he’s still building.
“It’s by choice, I’m still building. See, back then I looked richer than I was.”
Keeping up a pretence is no longer Dj Sbu’s priority and he’s focused on building his businesses, having learnt from the financial mistakes in his past.
