As the old saying goes, “regret always comes too late”.
If there’s anything life has taught us is that feeling regret is a normal, unfortunate, and inevitable part of our lives.
Similarly, regretting choices or decisions that you made is not the end of the world, it is merely just what makes us human beings.
Regret is a painful emotional experience that is rooted in disappointment, guilt, or remorse.
On Feel Good with Andy Maqondwana, Andy asks listeners about the advice they regret not taking. She also delves into how they have dealt with and processed the disappointment of their actions.
One listener, Blessing shared how he regrets not listening to a former School teacher.
“A teacher of mine told me I should study Education, but instead opted to study Computer Science. As we speak, four years down the line, I still haven’t graduated. I’ma drop. I wish I listened to her!”.
Another listener has also reflected on how the decisions we make will determine our outcomes.
“For me, it’s not necessarily advice, but something my pastor preached a few years ago. He said: ‘The decisions that you make now, you may not see the results now but in five years or so, you will see the relates of the decisions you have made’. And I see it every single day. The decisions that I made years ago, those results are happening now. And sometimes as you get older you realise that you should’ve done things differently”.
Another listener shared how he regrets marrying young.
“14 years ago I met this young lady. I thought she was the best thing to happen to me. When I decided to tie the knot, an old relative told me that I was too young to get married. And at the moment I thought she was just jealous (lol). But little did I know hey…
Now I’m stuck with this young girl who doesn’t want to further her studies. I struggle with this all the time”
