Have you ever found yourself dating or crushing on someone who looks exactly like your ex?
If you have, well I hate to break it to you beloveds, but you have a type!
Having a “type” when it comes to dating simply means that you often date people who have similar physical or emotional characteristics.
An example of this would be dating people who look like your exes or when you’re only dating people who fit into a specific social category, i.e dating an artsy man.
Having a type is not entirely weird, it does however become weird when you deliberately deny potential lovers because they don’t fit into or favour your choice of preference.
That said, what happens when you come across someone who is not your type? Would you give them a chance or would you kick them to the curb?
On Feel Good with Andy Maqondwana, Andy asks listeners whether or not they would date someone who is not their type. She also asks listeners about the partners who were not their types. but proved them wrong.
In a voice note one listener shares how despite not dating her usual type, she loves her partner.
“The one thing I’ve always said is that I would not date anyone who isn’t romantic. Hey Lala turns out the universe had other plans”.
She continues: “Three years down the line, I am dating a guy who is not romantic, but guess what, I love him and I’m here to stay!”.
Another listener, Nolwazi tells Andy how her current partner proved her wrong.
“My type is tall, dark, and handsome. I am an accountant, so I always pictured myself with a man who wore a suit. But ey, it turned out otherwise. My partner is a mechanic! We’re so different, but four years down line, I’m so in love with him! He taught me that love is not about material things”.
