As if Johannesburg residents weren’t feeling frustrated enough due to Stage 6 loadshedding, Joburg Water now warns of possible supply interruptions.
Joburg Water shared an update with customers on Monday, 19 September saying some water towers in the city were affected by the ongoing bouts of loadshedding.
“The pump stations which supply water into the towers, are isolated during the electricity outage. This results in no water supply into the towers during the duration of loadshedding. Customers in the various tower zones are affected by no water or poor pressure.”
Calling for customers to reduce their water consumption during this time, Joburg water says they are monitoring the situation.
Affected infrastructure and water supply will be monitored to ensure supply is restored to affected areas as soon as possible.
Joburg Water hasn’t issued a statement with details on affected areas but asked Johannesburg residents to log supply faults so they can investigate.
Stage 6 loadshedding is taking a toll on the country, with households and businesses struggling without power for up to 13 hours.
