President Cyril Ramaphosa will be amongst many dignitaries attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral on Monday, 19 September.
The South African President who is currently meeting with US President Joe Biden in Washington DC, will travel to the United Kingdom on Saturday, 17 September.
Ramaphosa’s meeting with Joe Biden was according to Presidency, to reaffirm the importance of the strategic and mutually beneficial relations between SA and the US.
Amongst the discussion was the enhanced multilateralism and dialogue as the means through which the challenges facing humanity can be addressed. These include the urgent need to stimulate economic recovery in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ramaphosa will attend several of the events associated with Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, which includes the State Funeral service at Buckingham Palace.
The President will also attend King Charles III’s Reception on Sunday, 18 September.
This is a reception where the new monarch will honour Heads of State and British Government.
Immediately after the State Funeral Service, the UK Foreign Secretary, The Rt Hon James Cleverly MP, will host a reception for Heads of State and Government and other distinguished guests in the precincts of Westminster Abbey.
