President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to meet US President Joe Biden at the White House this week.
Ramaphosa was extended an invitation to visit Joe Biden in Washington DC, by US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken who was recently in South Africa.
According to the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), Ramaphosa will discuss bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest, including trade and investment, climate change, food, security, energy, peace and security.
The meeting between both Heads of State will take place on Friday, 16 September.
During Blinken’s visit to the country, the US reiterated its message that South Africa claims an equal role in tackling global issues, such as the Russia/Ukraine war.
South Africa has maintained a neutral stance on the international war, calling for a healthier solution through dialogue.
In a statement issued by the White House, Ramaphosa and US President Joe Biden will look to reaffirm the importance of both countries “enduring partnership.”
President Biden will also host a US-Africa leaders’ summit in December.
