The ushering in of the new British monarch, King Charles III sparked the discussion on Kaya Drive over paying for convenience.
A viral moment from the King’s signing proclamation, which saw him get agitated with an aide for not moving the pens and ink-pots, brought up all the things people would pay for if it meant they wouldn’t have to lift a finger.
He may not be King but Kaya Drive host, Sizwe Dhlomo doesn’t cook nor will he make up his own bed.
Like King Charles, who would not simply move the pens, Siz says there was never a need for him to cook his own meals as he has been in the restaurant industry for years which meant his chefs would prep his food.
“I know how to cook but I generally do not cook, and I have people who cook for me. I can probably cook anything, including putu, but do I have the inclination to cook? No.”

Siz, who admits he hasn’t cooked in 2-years, said he knows his way around the kitchen and can even make putu, but it’s just not something he willingly does.

Mbali Dhlamini pays someone to update her CV, saying she’d rather do that than waste time typing out her credentials herself.
Kaya Drive Sports Presenter, Angie Khumalo pays for the convenience of having someone clean her house and cooking because she is the “most undomesticated person in the world.”
Ironically, the team’s Traffic Presenter, Juliet Joseph doesn’t like driving and has a driver on call to take her wherever she needs to go.
For Kaya Drive listeners, if they could afford it they would outsource most household chores, like cooking and cleaning because it takes a lot out of them.
“I’m a student, studying my LLB and I’m working so I pay someone to take notes for me. So far I’m getting straight A’s, so this is working for me and I’m not about to change things.”
