Springbok flyhalf, Elton Jantjies’ wife Iva has gone private on social media amid allegations he had an affair with the team dietician.
The scandal has rocked the national rugby team who are currently in Argentina preparing for a Test on 24 September.
Both Jantjies and the Springbok team dietician, Zeenat Simjee were sent back home, to eliminate any distractions for the Boks.
News of Jantjies and Simjee’s reported affair broke after a guesthouse in Mbombela lodged a complaint with the SA Rugby Union (SARU), over an unpaid R26 000 bill.
Elton Jantjies, who is married to Iva Ristic Jantjies, reportedly booked the guesthouse for Simjee and himself in August.
Since the cheating allegations surfaced, Jantjies’ wife Iva has taken her social media profiles from public to private.
The couple who met in 2014, have three children and married shortly after Jantjies proposed to Iva in 2019.
Iva, who is of Greek nationality, is a model who married Elton Jantjies in a low-key ceremony in Japan, a few days before the Boks won the World Cup.
According to Iva’s social media posts, the couple chose to make Japan home, raising their boys in Minato, Tokyo.
Neither Elton Jantjies nor Zeenat Simjee have released a statement addressing the allegations of their affair.
Meanwhile, South African Rugby Union (SARU) President, Mark Alexander said the matter will be dealt with, but for now all information is just hearsay.
“I don’t want to dig into anyone’s personal life because all the information is hearsay right now. It’s still just gossip.”
SARU President, Mark Alexander on Elton Jantjies’ alleged affair with Bok dietician Zeenat Simjee
As per a report in the SA Rugby Magazine, Alexander said all the sources who shed light on Jantjies’ alleged affair with Bok dietician, Zeenat Simjee were anonymous sources.
He said if those sources were serious they would go on record with what they know about the alleged affair.
Alexander said if both Jantjies and Simjee broke team rules, management will take action.
