Joining My Top 10 at 10 with Tbose is African history and knowledge enthusiast Mitchel Mhlanga.
Mitchel has amassed a large following for her insightful Twitter threads about African spirituality and culture.
“One of the things that made me learn about history is the African spiritual side of things when it comes to me,” she tells My Top 10 at 10. “I started understanding those things when I was now in China.”
She notes that in 2018 she started having unexplainable dreams.
Because of her upbringing, Mitchel heavily demonized African spirituality.
“When I started having those dreams I started looking for help. Only to discover that the help I was seeking would come from people whom I considered demons.
“When you view this from a religious perspective as I did, you do not really consider them your people when they are dead.
“We wouldn’t go back to the cemetery to do anything because according to what we believed – a dead person is no more, there is nothing else left.”

Mitchel’s quest for understanding led her to learn that we are all interconnected.
“I actually wanted to learn more about my history which led me to learn more about Mthwakazi history and Bakwena history. South Africa, Botswana, and Lesotho – all these countries just got so interconnected.
“The more you dig into this conversation, the more you notice that we are all from the same testicle.”
