- Consumers have been urged to stop using a certain WBeauty Complete Clarifying Shampoo sold by Woolworths after a limited batch was recalled over bacterial contamination concerns.
- The affected product contains Pluralibacter gergoviae, a bacterium sometimes found in wet manufacturing environments.
- Consumers who purchased the affected shampoo can return it to their nearest Woolworths store for a full refund, even without proof of purchase.
Consumers have been urged to stop using a certain WBeauty Complete Clarifying Shampoo after a limited batch was recalled over concerns about bacterial contamination.
The National Consumer Commission (NCC) issued the warning following a notification from Woolworths.
The affected product is the 250ml WBeauty Complete Clarifying Shampoo, SKU 6009233284823.
According to the NCC, the recall is due to the presence of Pluralibacter gergoviae, a bacterium that can sometimes be found in wet manufacturing environments.
“According to Woolworths, the recall of the limited batch of WBeauty Complete Clarifying Shampoo (250ml) is due to the presence of Pluralibacter gergoviae, a bacterium sometimes found in wet manufacturing environments,” said NCC spokesperson Pheto Ntaba.
The product has been sold nationally through Woolworths stores since July 2025.
It was also exported to Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Mauritius, Zambia and Namibia.
Consumers who have purchased the affected product are advised to discontinue use immediately to avoid the risk of bacterial infection.
They can return the product to their nearest Woolworths store for a full refund, with or without proof of purchase.
