Joining My Top 10 at 10 with Tbose is renowned author Dudu Busani-Dube, famous for writing Hlomu: The Series books.
Speaking about her career Dudu says she left journalism to focus on writing books.
“I eventually left journalism and decided to focus on just the writing.
“Where I was working the paper closed down. It was something I had been planning and thinking about for a long time. I was making more money with my book than my job.
The author says she writes the books that “I know the people I know would understand, about them and for them.”
As she readies to release the 6th and final book of Hlomu:The Series, she tells My Top 10 at 10 with Tbose that everything has to come to an end.
In two years it is going to be ten years. Everything has to end. It’s the end of something in the story. People will realise it when they read the book.
Despite this, a part of her doesn’t want to let go of the story she conceptualised.
“I had said that I am stopping at book no 6. I’ve been doing this for the longest time and I wanted to stop when I’m enjoying it and I have a story.
“I’ve written the end and I thought I was ready to let go but as I was reading this book I was like I still need to explore this. These are my characters and they live inside of me.
Because of this, Dudu left some space in the book if she does decide to continue with the story. “I’ll see whether I do decide to continue with it,” she said.
