Public Protector advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane was reportedly denied access to her office at the weekend.
This was despite a Western Cape High Court ruling setting aside her suspension by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
On June 9, a day after announcing a probe into the president’s Phala Phala farm robbery case, she was placed on leave.

She looked into whether he had reported “proceeds” from selling animals that were made more than two years ago.
The probe came as a result of a request by African Transformation Movement (ATM) head Vuyo Zungula to look into possible Executive Members’ Ethics Act violations by Ramaphosa.

According to reports, Mkhwebane sent a WhatsApp message to Deputy Public Protector Kholeka Gcaleka to make arrangements for her return to the office.
However, in a media statement, Gcaleka told Mkhwebane that the appeal process effectively suspended the Western Cape High Court ruling.
The court found in her favour on Friday but added a disclaimer to the order that required the Constitutional Court to affirm the decision.
