The health department of Limpopo is calling for calm in the wake of the province’s confirmed monkeypox case.
This is the third case in South Africa.
The National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) and Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba verified the case on Sunday.
“The confirmed case is that of a 42-year-old male tourist from Switzerland who is holidaying in the province.
“The case presented with signs and symptoms such as rash, lymphadenopathy, muscle ache, and fatigue.
“We are calling for calm. We can confirm that the case is an outpatient, currently isolating, and requires no admission,” said Ramathuba.

The NICD has also shared guidelines on how to protect yourself against contracting Monkeypox.
Take the following steps to prevent getting #monkeypox:

– Avoid close, skin to skin contact with the monkeypox rash.
– Do not touch the rash or scabs of person with monkeypox.
– Do not kiss, hug, cuddle or have sex with someone with monkeypox.
