A devastating cyclone in Madagascar has claimed the lives of 20 people, leaving thousands homeless.
Tropical Cyclone Batsirai hit the town of Mananjary, Madagascar on Monday.
Still recovering from Tropical Storm Ana, Madagascar’s displaced are now relying on relief aid as homes across many regions were destroyed.
Ana hit Madagascar just two weeks ago, claiming 55 lives and affecting at least 131 000.
Several buildings were demolished by the excessive winds and an estimated 55 000 people are without shelter.
Widespread flooding has also been reported which has meant the region has been declared a humanitarian crisis.
Adverse weather conditions has been affecting parts of the world, including South Africa, with record rainfall patterns that has led to increases in floods.
According to UNICEF, 7 900 people are being cared for at shelter sites in cyclone-affected areas.
