Recent heavy rains in George, Garden Route have wrecked havoc from Sunday with mop up operations underway. Widespread thunderstorms and persistent heavy rains have ravaged the Western Cape’s coastal city this week.
A yellow level warning was issued by the South African Weather Services, predicting that up to 50mm of rainfall would hit within 24-hours.
Days later disaster management officials are preparing to assess the damage caused after several roads, schools, houses and buildings were affected.
The unusual weather patterns left several residents’ sharing footage of the floods and of their possessions being washed away.
