Somizi Mhlongo says people need to stop complicating things when it comes to worshiping God and ancestors. He made the comments while hosting a recent ‘Eat, Love, Pray’ event.
The worship of God and ancestors has been a talking point in recent times.
For decades, there have been clashes of opinions on whether one can worship God and still acknowledge or pray to ancestors.
Somizi discussed his spirituality at the event and clarified how he feels about the matter.

He says ancestors are acknowledged, but only God should be worshipped.
The media personality pointed out the similarities between what people in church use versus what is used when people do their traditional spiritual events.
“At churches, they use white candles, we also use a white candle. Indians use incense and we use impepho, it’s all those simple things, don’t complicate things,” he said during the event.
He added that when it comes to communicating with ancestors, one is supposed to acknowledge them and ask for protection.
He cautioned against using words such as “I am nothing without you”. He says those words should only be attributed to God.
