A North West mother is struggling to come to terms with her 10-year old daughter’s murder.
The little girl was kidnapped from her primary school in Ikageng on 4 November which was the last time she was seen alive.
Her mother, Betty Sithole’s ex-lover, (38) has been arrested and accused for kidnapping and murder after her body was found in his shack.
As reported by News24, the girl’s mother had her ex arrested for attempted murder in June this year.
He appeared in court on the morning the girl was kidnapped in relation to the attempted murder case.
Police have not ruled out the possibility that 10-year old Kamogelo Sithole was raped before she was murdered.
Her mother reported a case of kidnapping after the child did not return home and a search for her commenced.
Concerned the mother alerted police that she was suspicious it might have been her ex-lover and a search for him begun.
He was traced to the Zakhele informal settlement in Ikageng on Sunday, 7 November where he was arrested.
The girl’s lifeless body was found, under his bed on 8 November.
She was strangled and Betty recounted her ex’s chilling threat that he was going to kill her daughter if she didn’t take him back.
The suspect appeared before the Potchefstroom Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday to face a murder charge.
