Pearl Thusi has come to the defence of Lungelihle ‘Uncle Waffles’ Zwane after the DJ was bullied on social media.
Uncle Waffles was the talk of the Twitter streets after some tweeps said they were tired of constantly seeing her on their timeline.
Some internet trolls went as far as calling her “overrated”. “Does she play other songs or…? Because all the videos I see of her it’s always Adiwele…she needs to come up with something, fast!” one tweep wrote.
Some Twitter users have also warned that Uncle Waffles’ team is exploiting her. She became SA’s new “it-girl” after a video from one of her sets went viral online.
American rapper Drake started following Uncle Waffle. She is now in high demand.

However, Uncle Waffles clapped back at any suggestion that her team was taking advantage of her.
“I’d just like to say, my team is the biggest blessing in my life when it comes to my career. They go above and beyond for me, the narrative that’s being shared is so disheartening. They have never made me feel uncomfortable or treated me inappropriately,” she tweeted.

She says her team and supporters have shown her an incredible amount of love.
“Coming here and having to explain how people who have completely dedicated their lives to helping me grow, guide me, show me love, encourage me and actually carry me thru all the turmoil of a “blow up” really sucks Bc of how it’s made them feel.”
I appreciate all the love above all else, I needed to clarify this. Those are my people who are part of my everyday and have really held me down. Let’s not touch that part. Even typing this with the feeling that it will still be altered sucks aswell, genuinely my people love me.

Leave Uncle Waffles alone

“I’ll fight for uncle waffles. [Like] fight-fight. So can y’all please not create a problem,” she tweeted.

One of South Africa’s top female DJs has also shown Uncle Waffles some love. DJ Zinhle urged up-and-coming DJs to avoid the haters. She also shared tips to help aspiring DJs succeed.
“Female DJs, perfect your art… don’t give them a reason to disrespect your work. Practice makes perfect. With that said, wear whatever you wanna wear & dance if it’s your thing… They are talking because you’re shaking the industry. It’s our time!”
