A 42-year-old woman has been arrested after she allegedly confessed to murdering her husband and disposing of his dismembered body in three pit toilets before fleeing to Zimbabwe in 2015.
North West police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said Nancy Majonhi had been staying with her husband, Prosper Chipungare, at a rented room in Ledig near Sun City.
“The couple allegedly had a fight on Tuesday, 28 July 2015. The husband was allegedly assaulted with a hammer until he fainted. According to the information received, the accused hacked the then 44-year-old victim, with a spade and threw the parts into three different pit latrines.
“Thereafter, she thoroughly cleaned the place and went to Sun City police station where she reported that her husband was missing,” Mokgwabone said.

Wife confesses to murder
The women fled South Africa and went back home to Zimbabwe.
“She only confessed earlier this month, to her family and in-laws that she killed her husband. The families arranged to come to South Africa where the accused handed herself over to the police,” he said.
The woman has appeared in court and was remanded in custody.
Mokgwabone said investigation into the matter is underway and police managed to retrieve a skull and bones which will be subjected to DNA tests.
In a separate case, two men appeared in court for the murder of a 29-year-old woman in June. Tebogo Mokgomo (45) and Matevane Mokatsanyane (42) appeared before the Stilfontein Magistrate’s Court this week.
“Police questioned Matevane Mokatsanyane, owner of the house where the victim stayed. It was established that Mokgomo was in a relationship with the deceased. It was consequently established that the pair allegedly stole the victim’s two cell phones and locked her inside the house.
“They came back later the same day and allegedly hanged her,” said police spokesperson, Captain Aafje Botma. The men are due back in court soon.”
