R2 million banana artwork eaten by student who claims “he was hungry”.
A student who claimed to have skipped breakfast consumed a banana that had been duct-taped to the wall of an art gallery in Seoul, South Korea.
According to CNN, The piece is a part of the solo show ‘WE’ by Cattelan, which is on show at the Seoul museum through July 16. The actual banana is not for sale and is regularly replaced every two to three days.
Cattelan is renowned for satirical works that criticize popular culture and frequently spark discussions about conceptual art.
Noh Huyn-soo, a Seoul National University art student, appeared pleased and unconcerned as he was photographed eating the banana.
He initially claimed that he had eaten the banana because ‘he was hungry.’
