Gauteng Health confirmed that there is a Cholera outbreak in Hammanskraal in the City of Tshwane.
This was after lab tests of 19 people with symptoms that they presented were confirmed as caused by Cholera.
Since 15 May Jubilee Hospital recorded 95 people with symptoms of diarrhea, stomach cramps, and nausea.
The hospital currently has 37 admitted Cholera cases and reported 10 deaths.
The 10 people that died included 9 adults and 1 three-year-old.
The public is urged to maintain proper hand hygiene. Hands must be washed with water and soap.
Other precautionary measures include disinfecting surfaces, peeling fruit and vegetables before eating it, and boiling water before drinking it.

Gauteng Health increased resources at the Jubilee Hospital with additional medical and nursing staff. It also prepared two additional wards to ensure that patients with symptoms of Cholera can be admitted immediately.
The Department has also mobilised additional resources which include medical and nursing staff from surrounding hospitals and local clinics to improve capacity for the growing need for medical care. pic.twitter.com/qumbSEjk8O

The public is urged to visit the nearest health facility if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms: diarrhea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and dehydration.
