Angry Buccleuch residents drove to Eskom head offices in Megawatt Park to throw their rotten food on the power utility’s doorstep.
This after both Buccleuch and Munyaka Waterfall residents were left without electricity for 5-days with no end in sight.
Frustrated residents showed up in their neighbours driving around Megawatt Park to vent about their struggles without power for almost a week.
Residents say they’ve lost hundreds of Rands in groceries and food items which have all spoiled.

While numerous attempts to lodge complaints over the lengthy outage has been ignored up to this point, it seems the residents’ united front has forced a response from the embattled power utility.
On Friday, 19 May, Eskom explained the reason for the power outage and said they were working on restoring electricity to both Buccleuch and Munyaka Waterfall residents.
“Eskom technicians are working around the clock to repair damaged electricity infrastructure which has left residents of Buccleuch and Waterfall, without supply for five days.
The extent of the damage and work that must be conducted because of faults to cables supplying the areas has led to delays in restoring supply to the affected customers.
Eskomg technicians have been on site since the outage and have made enormous progress towards finalising repairs and restoring supply to the affected customers.
Theft and vandalism of electricity equipment in these areas also compromise the stability of supply and cause frequent outages.”

Buccleuch residents took a leaf out of Waterfall residents’ books to voice their anger at Eskom in unison.
On Thursday, Waterfall residents barricaded entrance and exit to the estate, having a peaceful protest and enjoying a braai together after 4-days without power.
Waterfall residents say they are frustrated as some of them pay over R15 000 in rentals but there’s no basic services such as water and electricity.
