It’s almost holiday season, and many of us will be behind our devices for hours on end.
While families tend to focus on how to reduce screen time for their kids, adults can also be guilty of overusing mobile devices. Most of us have wasted an hour playing game apps or scrolling through Facebook posts.
It’s important to put down your device from time to time, and actually go outside and live.
Be a parent to your child.
On any given day, your kid may scroll through a handful of social media feeds, watch TV, check out a few online videos, and listen to music. A certain amount of media use is normal, but if you have to pry away your kid’s iPad every night at the dinner table, it may be time for a change.
There’s only one way to manage kids’ screen time: parenting. It’s up to parents and caretakers to establish rules, guidelines, and habits that lead to an appropriate amount of time with computers, video games, tablets, and phones.
Thomas and Skhumba asked Kaya 959 listeners how they think is too much screen time?
Is looking at your phone and watching television at the same time that’s too much screening to do for one person. #ThomasAndSkhumba
