Guy Fawkes Day, also known as Bonfire Night, is a yearly observance celebrated on the 5th of November in the United Kingdom, commemorating the failure of the Gunpowder plot of the year 1605.
On the day, Guy Fawkes, a member of the assassination attempt against King James, was arrested while guarding explosives placed beneath the upper house of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
Today on the Morning Show with Thomas and Skhumba, the hosts asked the listeners to share their Guy Fawkes Day experiences.
“It’s happening everywhere in the townships. Tomorrow it’s on.
“This is the thing about us, we don’t want to know too many details.
“From the 5th of November after school, we dress up and sing house to house,” said Skhumba about his Guy Fawkes Day experience.
“We would dress up – guys as girls and girls as guys – go house to house signing penny penny Guy Fawkes,” said a caller.
“You crossdress, put your mom’s wig and make-up. If you are a girl, you’ll wear your dad or uncle’s clothes and sing for money,” recalled another caller.
