Today on Anonymous advice with Thomas and Skhumba, a woman said she is struggling to get out of her abusive marriage.
“In 2010, I got engaged; the guy is not South African. I guess I was naïve at the time. We got married in community of property and had kids.
“I don’ think he ever loved me. He didn’t buy anything. Even now, he is driving my car. He has been emotionally abusive since 2011.
“Now I’m trying to get out of the marriage; I’m no longer employed,” she said.
Skhumba asked why it was difficult for her to leave the marriage.
She said that the guy was well connected. She applied for a protection order, and proceedings were still ongoing.
