Family, friends, teammates and supporters have gathered at the Coetzenburg Centre at the Coetzenburg Sports Grounds in Stellenbosch to bid farewell to Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams.
Earlier this week, Adams’ family confirmed that members of the public would be welcome to attend the funeral service, while requesting privacy during the final farewell.
Only close family members will be permitted to view Adams’ body before the service, while the burial at the cemetery will be reserved for family.
Adams died just a few days after Bafana Bafana returned home from the FIFA World Cup in Mexico.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear as his family awaits the results of a post-mortem examination.
Cape Town police have opened an inquest into his death and have said they do not suspect any foul play.
