Former Royal AM owner, Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize, has reportedly taken over as the new president of Eswatini Premier League club, Mbabane Highlanders.
This move marks a significant shift in the ownership landscape of Eswatini football.
Reports from Eswatini Daily News indicate that MaMkhize finalised the acquisition in a meeting held earlier this week in Matsapha.
While official announcements from the club are still pending, reports indicate that it is imminent.
This comes after her previous club, Royal AM, faced challenges and eventual expulsion from the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) due to financial issues and tax debts.
MaMkhize had previously been linked with another Eswatini club, Moneni Pirates, but those rumors did not materialise.
Her entry into Mbabane Highlanders, one of Eswatini’s most decorated clubs, is expected to bring renewed investment and attention to the “Black Bull”.
According to reports, MaMkhize’s arrival is anticipated to inject much-needed financial stability and strategic direction into Mbabane Highlanders, potentially aiming to restore the club to its former glory and compete for league titles.
