SABC secures the rights to broadcast all 52 AFCON 2023 games.
The SABC has announced that it is happy to be the only South African television platform that will be broadcasting games from Africa’s biggest football showpiece, following SuperSport’s recent confirmation that they will not be showcasing matches at the AFCON, which is scheduled to begin on January 13.

Furthermore, the SABC has also secured the rights for various other CAF competitions, including the Afcon 2025 qualifiers, CAF CHAN 2024, CAF Champions League 2023/24, CAF Confederations Cup 2023/24, CAF Africa Women Cup of Nations 2024, CAF Women’s Champions League 2024, and CAF Super Cup 2024.
The national broadcaster confirmed this in a statement on Thursday.
“The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 broadcasting rights and the rest of CAF events for the 2024 season.
Total Energies AFCON 2023 is a highly anticipated sport spectacle that will take place in Ivory Coast from 13 January 2024 until 11 February 2024 and will be only available on the SABC channels across all broadcasting platforms in South Africa.”
