The long-awaited women’s team for Kaizer Chiefs will debut this season, according to Kemiso Motaung, the club’s director of digital.
Motaung confirmed the news on the sports program Game Time on Radio 2000. She said the women’s team will spearhead the nurturing of women’s soccer in South Africa.
She also added that the public is frequently unaware of the difficulties Kaizer Chiefs encountered when establishing a women’s team.
“This is something we have been talking about for some time. Being around the Banyana team has inspired me to say that we as a brand would be doing the country and the continent a disservice if we do not provide a platform to nurture young women’s talent, allowing them to showcase themselves with the Chiefs brand. said Motaung.

Chiefs and the Orlando Pirates have been slow to create female teams.
Following Banyana Banyana’s victory in the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations last week, more Premier Soccer League clubs are expected to create women’s teams sooner rather than later.
In other news, the team launched its 2022/2023 season, home and away kits this week.
