This week marked a proud moment for Springbok winger Cheslin Kolbe and his wife Layla as they officially launched the Cheslin Kolbe Foundation.
“We are so excited to officially announce the launch of the ‘Cheslin Kolbe Foundation’.
“This is extremely special for both myself and my wife Layla and it is something that has remained very close to our hearts ever since we first
conceptualised the idea of establishing a foundation several years ago.
“We cannot wait to now take the next steps in our outreach vision and encourage you to follow this exciting journey with us.”
Cheslin Kolbe is part of the legendary Springbok squad that won back-to-back World Cups under the stewardship of coach Rassie Erasmus.
In June, Kolbe rejoined his teammates in Pretoria and underwent rehabilitation under the supervision of the Bok medical staff.
The 30-year-old suffered a knee niggle during the Japanese club season, and after consultation with the Bok medical team and was released to seek a specialist opinion. He returned to camp to follow a rehabilitation programme.
Siya Kolisi retains Springbok captaincy
Coach Rassie Erasmus announced recently that Siya Kolisi will retain the captain’s armband when the Boks face off against Ireland in Pretoria this Saturday, ending speculation that Kolisi will be replaced by a locally based player.
“Siya will be the captain and will again wear the No. 6 jersey,” said Erasmus. “He’s fit and isn’t carrying any injuries.”
Erasmus also provided good news on the injury front, following concerns about several players carrying minor injuries following the Test against Wales.
