English Premier League side Chelsea to renew Thiago Silva’s contract.
It is reported that the London club is in the advanced stages of the negotiations and has an agreement in principle with Thiago Sila.
What’s interesting about this deal is that Thiago is 38 years old and plays center-back (an enforcing role in any team). It is unprecedented for players over the age of 34 to get new deals in the EPL.
Silva, however, is a special case as his experience and leadership qualities have come in handy in the rebuilding of Chelsea.
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that: “Chelsea have now reached a full verbal agreement with Thiago Silva on a new contract valid until June 2024, here we go!”
On 28 August 2020, Silva joined Chelsea on a 1-year deal. He made his debut for the club on 23 September, in a 6–0 home win over Barnsley.
