Last week, a Tennessee Senate passed a bill requiring drunk drivers to pay Child Support if they cause the death of a parent.
Each weekend you are bound to come across a drunk driver in South Africa. “Now, what are your views on how SA law enforcement (generally) deals with drinking and driving offenses?” Asks Thomas in The Morning Show.
“I like how in America they are tracing you from the first point before the accident and getting into the car – they are suing everybody,” adds Thomas.
Anonymous shares “Yesterday I left Carltonville around 9 with half a jack, I was so drunk and got chased by the police. When they caught me they didn’t want to arrest me but instead asked for a bribe.
“I think the perfect punishment for me would be taking Mr driver’s license because people will never learn.”
Another listener shares: “Drinking and driving happens every day and more frequently. The idea of us being able to trace where the driver was and who served him is going to be difficult. We are not there yet as a country, first of all, as a country we need to make sure that individuals understand, respect, and adhere to the law.”
Check out some of the reactions on social media:
#ThomasAndSkhumba i'm sure there were many people who drove drunk from groove this past weekend. South Africans don't get arrested for drinking and driving we just pay "cold-drink" no matter how drunk 1 can be. Also owners of establishments should be responsible for drunk ppl
