Gender stereotypes are still at the forefront of what differentiates men and women. Societal norms places an emphasis on a man and woman’s roles being clearly defined.

The hallmark masculine defining items that will set a man apart are vast, from accessories to tools, with the help of Kaya Drive listeners, we’ve compiled a list.

Of course one could argue that not all men are equally skilled. While there are all-rounders who are handy with a set of tools, or can fix cars, other men may have no inclination to get their hands dirty.

Which is why the list aims to include a general list of items every man must have:

A good bottle of cologne

A man’s scent makes a statement even before he says anything. It shows that he takes pride in himself and exudes that confidently. What he smells like also impacts how a man is received by his partner.

A suit that actually fits

We’re not saying get it tailored or made-to-order, just that a suit should not wear a man, it should be the other way around.

Multi-tool pocket knife

No one expects a man to be Macgyver but he should be prepared for just about anything. A multi-tool pocket knife can be used to carve things, cut fingernails, open packages or string with the scissors.

A set of tools

The basic toolkit should include a hammer, tape measure, pliers, screwdrivers, nails, spanners and a drill.

Grooming kit

A good grooming kit that can take a man from grizzly bear to smooth and well groomed can go a long way. Even if you have regular appointments at the barber, keeping your beard and hair tidy doesn’t take too much effort.
