There’s new proudly South African chocolate that is developed and made here in the country.
It’s chocolate named ‘Dintle’ which means beauty.
The product was established as a collaboration between two entrepreneurs who are Orange Farm-based Puleng Sekekete of Dinako Wineries and Zamdela-based Nyakallo Mokoena of Mcofana.

In the recent Kasinomics feature, Kaya Biz with Gugulethu Mfuphi spoke with Nyakallo Mokoena – Co-founder of Dintle chocolates

Mokoena gave a brief background on how and why they began making chocolate.
“Just give a brief background on the product, I do coffee, I started Mcofana, and because of my experience with imports and exports I was introduced to chocolate and then that’s when I started working on Dintle last year.”
“The reason we named it Dintle is that ‘Dintle’ means beautiful, and we just wanted to represent that in the product.”
“It hasn’t been that easy, to be honest, but the experience has been so beautiful. When we started ‘Dintle we did so with the expectation of telling the African story, hence the name. We wanted to remind the world that there is beauty in the African continent.” says Mokoena

Mokoena gave an overview of the business and how they plan to take on bigger brands in the market.
“It has been an experience where I have learned to accept. I have learned that the market is there, hence the brand needs to compete with brands like Lindt and all other big competitors, we set out to compete with these brands on a global scale because the resources and ingredients are all sourced in Africa. “
