The streets have spoken and South Africans are calling for “The Voice of Africa”, Kelly Khumalo to replace Somizi on Idols SA after his estranged husband’s abuse allegations.
While the show has made no official announcement and will instead be making use of guest presenters in the interim and to complete this season, Sunday World has learnt that producers are looking at Kelly to take over from Somizi.
An idea that has received the full support of most social media users who feel Kelly is most suited for the role. Rumours that Kelly was tipped to take over the eccentric media personality’s judging title on the popular singing contest started in early August and hasn’t died down since.
Kelly Khumalo would be a phenomenal idols judge. That girl just doesn’t make music. She IS music,!

If Kelly Khumalo is to replace Somizi in Idols…then that’s the smartest thing they’ve done since it began. It’s only fair that people that can actually sing and have made a career out of it be judges.

Over the weekend Somizi was dragged on Twitter yet again, this time after an old video of an interview with podcaster MacG resurfaced. In the clip, MacG talks about being depressed and engaging in sex with multiple women.
Somizi then responded that this would have been the perfect time for him to pounce on MacG.
“Damn! Where was I? Let me tell you why this is when I was supposed to pounce. Because I’ve always had a crush on you, but you were too young. And it did not help that even when you were over 18 you still looked 12. Damn! My timing sucks because that was the time for me to pounce,” replied Somizi.
While MacG made it clear that he was only into girls, Somizi said: “But when you are vulnerable anything goes.”
MacG: I was depressed & broke, it was after I was fired
Somizi: Damn, where was I to pounce on you, I’ve always had a crush on you but you were too young
MacG: But I’m only into girls
