Rudzani David “Muonyolosi” Mafhege who is a well-known writer has paved the way for a better comprehension of mathematics for Tshivenda speaking learners.
Mafhege who is from the Vondwe-Lwavune village, in Limpopo Province recently published a new book, Tshiphiri Tsha Mbalo (the secret of mastering mathematics).
The book is a study guide that is aimed at helping Grade 7 pupils to understand mathematics better.
His book is was inspired by his realisation of how in many communities, learners have challenges when it comes to understanding the intricacies of mathematics.

He recently joined Phemelo Motene to talk about the importance of closing the massive gap of teaching children important concepts in their mother tongue.

Mafhege says his vision is to unlock the doors of learning for young kids suffering from a lack of knowledge of mathematics.
“In the book, I try to explain how each and every fraction, equation and ratio fits in.”
“We don’t want our young kids suffering from a lack of knowledge of mathematics, as it is a vital subject that can help to unlock the doors of learning,” said Mafhege.
