Stellenbosch University has set social media ablaze after a video of a white student who is seen urinating in a first-year black student’s room has circulated.
What seems like a racially motivated act, the incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, 15th May 2022 at 04:00 am at the House Maria campus residence.
In the video shared by a Twitter user, the black student, who is taking the video, is heard asking why he’s peeing on his belongings, the white student reportedly answered by saying, “This what we do to black students”.
According to the Twitter user who shared this video, there was no physical altercation.
“This cuts deep. There was no altercation, nothing. A first-year black student was sleeping peacefully in res”.

In another video shared by another Twitter user, the perpetrator is seen apologizing to his res.
Though he has apologized, Stellenbosch University is yet to comment on the incident.
“I just want to apologise for my behaviour, which I know what I did was wrong. And I just want to apologise. Sorry guys”, the perpetrator expressed during an emergency house meeting.
He was made to apologise at his res, no other action has been taken so far. The university hasn’t even sent out a formal email about the incident. pic.twitter.com/i5IvwQ3cvD
