Putco confirmed that one of its passenger vehicles caught fire on Wednesday, 27 March forcing passengers to jump out of the burning bus.
This after a video was shared to social media by Yusuf Abramjee showing people frantically jumping out of the bus that was engulfed in flames.
The bus was enroute to Centurion when the driver had to pull over on the side of a road as thick smoke and flames tore through.

Putco said in a statement that all passengers on board had managed to escape, but 22 people were injured in the incident and have been taken to medical facilities for treatment.
Lindokuhle Xulu, Putco spokesperson said a preliminary investigation indicates the fire was triggered by a prop shaft snap which struck the tyre and damaged the wiring beneath the bus.
“Putco regrets to confirm an incident involving one of its busses which caught fire while enroute on the R573 Ditshweneng.
Investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of the accident. We are actively collaborating with relevant authorities to gather all necessary information.
Our thoughts are with 22 passengers who were injured, and we extend our gratitude to the emergency response teams.”
