At a news conference on Wednesday afternoon, state Governor Wes Moore, representatives from the Maryland Department of Transportation, and the US Coast Guard made the somber announcement.
Rescue efforts were canceled on Tuesday night when Coast Guard Rear Admiral Shannon Gilreath stated that the extremely cold conditions made it unlikely that the men, who were working on the bridge at the time of the incident, would be found alive.
