The nation is in shock and still trying to come to terms with the untimely passing of television and radio broadcaster Pearl Shongwe.
Shongwe was 35 years old at the time of her passing.
The news about Pearl Shongwe’s passing broke on Tuesday. It is reported that her body was discovered by neighbours in her Johannesburg apartment.
The SABC confirmed the news of her passing.
“The SABC has learned through the family of Pearl Shongwe that she has sadly passed away. The SABC extends its heartfelt condolences to the Shongwe Family.”
Pearl Shongwe was currently working as a newsreader on Metro FM and a presenter on Daily Thetha.
Following the news about her passing, tributes have been pouring in for Pearl on social media.
Tbo Touch, who worked closely with Shongwe has asked for some privacy to come to terms with her death.
“Farewell my friend. I can write volumes after volumes about our journey on and off air. But allow me to deal with this pain for now. PLEASE,” he wrote.
