Sizwe Ngema, the Durban (DBN) Metro Police Officer accused of stabbing his pregnant girlfriend to death made his first appearance at the Durban Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 02 April.
On Sunday, 31 March Ngema allegedly stabbed his fellow Metro Police Officer girlfriend, Yolanda Khuzwayo to death after spending the early hours of the morning drinking together.
Ngema also allegedly took a video of Yolanda taking her last breath, with blood oozing out of her mouth and a knife stuck in her neck.
He is said to have sent this video to several people and allegedly posted the graphic video to social media.
Ngema’s family handed him over to police after they were made aware of the video.
The 27-year old reportedly went into a violent rage during a heated argument with Yolanda, where he learnt that he may not be the father of her child.
Unconfirmed reports suggest Yolanda had informed Ngema that she wanted to have an abortion, which sparked the heated disagreement.
However, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says the motive is still unclear.
Sizwe Ngema faces charges for murder and theft, and is expected back in court on 09 April for his bail application.
