Global online fashion giant Shein is set to bring its trendy and affordable fashion offerings to life with the launch of a pop-up store at the Mall of Africa, Midrand in August.
This exciting development marks a significant step for the online shopping brand. The pop-up store is expected to provide shoppers with a unique, in-person experience of Shein’s vast product range.
While shoppers can view Shein’s impressive collection of clothing items, accessories and more at the pop-up store, they will not be able to make in-store purchases.
Shein’s pop-up store at Mall of Africa is a strategic location, as the mall in Waterfall City, Midrand is one of the largest centers on the continent.
The premier shopping destination, couples with its impressive foot traffic, makes it an ideal location for Shein’s first physical presence in the country.
Bridging the Online and Offline Shopping Worlds
Shein has built a massive following through its online platform, known for its wide variety of fashion-forward apparel, accessories, and home goods.
The pop-up store will allow customers to experience these products in person, bridging the gap between online convenience and the tactile experience of in-store shopping.
Shoppers will have the opportunity to try on clothing, feel the fabrics, and see the quality up close, which can enhance their shopping confidence and satisfaction.
The Shein pop-up store will be open on Friday, 2 August between 14h00 to 20h00 and from 09h00 to 21h00 from Saturday, 3 August, to Sunday, 11 August.
South African online shoppers were hit with bad news as tax hikes on Temu and Shein will be kicked in on 01 July.
The Chinese fast fashion shopping websites, which have grown in popularity in the country, will now be charging standard import taxes after local retailers accused Temu and Shein of exploiting a tax loophole.
This will mean that South Africans will be hit with a 45% import duty plus VAT.
As of the 01 July all orders from Temu or Shein under R500 will be slapped with the 45% import duty and 15% VAT charge.
