- The second accused in DJ Warras’ murder, Armindo Pacula, has told the court he fears for his life at Johannesburg prison and has been transferred to Modderbee prison for safety.
- Pacula faces charges including premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and contravening the Immigration Act.
- He has opted not to apply for bail and plans to enter into a plea bargain with the State.
The second accused in the brutal murder of Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, told the court that he fears for his life at the Johannesburg prison facility.
Armindo Pacula requested to be moved to another prison claiming that Sun City prison harbours hardcore and dangerous criminals. His lawyer told the court that Pacula’s friend was allegedly killed inside the prison.
In response, the court ordered that Pacula be transferred to the Modderbee prison for his safety.
The 25-year-old faces charges of premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and contravening the Immigration Act.
He is accused of pulling the trigger on the media personality outside the Zambesi building last year.
Meanwhile, the Mozambican Consulate in Johannesburg said Pacula must face the full might of the law if found guilty of the Reconciliation Day shooting.
Consular General Guilherme Tamela was present at the Johannesburg High Court for Pacula’s second appearance on Monday, 9 February 2026.
The Consulate in Johannesburg has called on all Mozambican nationals to adhere to South African laws.
Speaking to the media outside court, Consular General Guilherme Tamela expressed faith in the country’s justice system.
He said they have yet to engage with Pacula about how he got to South Africa.
Pacula elected not to apply for bail, indicating plans to enter into a plea bargain with the State.
