The community of Sebokeng, just outside Vanderbijlpark helped themselves to cash from a bombed CIT vehicle on Tuesday, 13 December.
This is the second time over the past few days that a cash-in-transit vehicle was raided by community members after bombers made off with bags of cash.
Over the weekend, another CIT vehicle was bombed and heisted near Alexandra township, and the community looted whatever was left, including cash that had blown into the streets.
What was dangerous about the Sebokeng incident is that the CIT armoured van was on fire when looters were helping themselves to cash.
Police had previously warned people against doing this as the explosive devices used during the heists could still be active and the vehicle could explode.
But the warnings fall on deaf ears as many South Africans who are hard-pressed during these tough financial times seize the opportunity to pick up hundreds of Rands.
The heist in Sebokeng took place at 17h30 when robbers used a Mercedes-Benz to ram into the CIT vehicle before bombing it.
Police say they are investigating the incident and said robbers made of with an undisclosed amount of money.
