The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced that millions of citizens will receive their social grant payments for August 2025 in the first week of the month. With over 19 million beneficiaries across the country, the payments are set to be disbursed in a staggered schedule from 5 to 7 August.
SASSA has confirmed the following payment dates:
- Older Persons’ Grant: Tuesday, 5 August
- Disability Grant: Wednesday, 6 August
- Children’s Grants: Thursday, 7 August
Beneficiaries can expect to receive the following amounts for the month:
- Older Persons’ and Disability Grants: R2,315 for those aged 60–74 and R2,335 for those 75 and older.
- War Veterans’ and Care Dependency Grants: R2,315
- Foster Child Grant: R1,250
- Child Support Grant: R560
- Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant: R370
In addition to the payment schedule, SASSA has also urged beneficiaries to cooperate with an ongoing grant review process. The agency stated that this is a routine and essential procedure designed to update personal information, verify continued eligibility, and maintain efficient communication.
SASSA noted that updating beneficiary information is crucial to preventing fraudulent activity and ensuring that grants are distributed correctly. As such, it’s essential for those asked to review their details to do so promptly.
